Home remodeling and renovations: building the home you love
Expert craftsmanship for your kitchen, bathroom, and living spaces.
Your home is more than just a roof over your head. It is where your life happens. Over time, layouts become outdated, fixtures wear out, and families outgrow their space. Smith Roofing and Restoration applies our construction management background to interior remodeling projects in Jacksonville and across coastal North Carolina. Whether you want to open up a cramped kitchen, modernize a master bathroom, or finish a bonus room, we bring the same level of organization and transparency to your renovation that we bring to our roofing projects.
We know that hiring a contractor for interior work requires a high level of trust. You are inviting us into your personal space for weeks at a time. We take that responsibility seriously. Our team respects your home by maintaining a clean job site, sticking to the schedule, and communicating clearly about what is happening each day. We manage the entire process so you do not have to juggle plumbers, electricians, and painters yourself.
Kitchen remodeling
The kitchen is the heart of the home and usually the room that adds the most value when updated. We handle everything from minor facelifts to full gut renovations.
Cabinet installation. We install high quality cabinetry that maximizes storage and fits your style, whether you prefer a coastal white shaker look or a modern wood finish.
Layout changes. Many older homes in our area have closed off kitchens. We can remove non load bearing walls to create the open concept living space that modern families prefer.
Countertops and backsplashes. We help you select and install durable materials like granite, quartz, or tile that can stand up to daily cooking and entertaining.
Flooring upgrades. We replace worn out linoleum or tile with waterproof luxury vinyl plank or hardwood that flows seamlessly into the rest of your home.
Bathroom renovations
Bathrooms in coastal homes take a beating from humidity and daily use. We turn outdated bathrooms into functional, relaxing spaces.
Waterproofing first. As roofing and water damage experts, we know that what is behind the tile matters most. We use proper waterproofing systems for showers and tub surrounds to prevent mold and rot behind your walls.
Vanity and fixture updates. We replace old, leaky faucets and cramped vanities with modern fixtures that improve water efficiency and storage.
Tile work. From custom shower pans to floor to ceiling wall tile, our craftsmen pay attention to layout and grout lines for a professional finish.
Project management you can rely on
The biggest complaint homeowners have about remodeling is the lack of communication. Contractors who show up late, go silent for days, or surprise you with extra costs. Smith Roofing and Restoration is built differently. Our founder's experience with large construction companies instilled a discipline for project management that is rare in the residential market. We provide a detailed scope of work before we start. We update you on progress regularly. If we open a wall and find an unexpected issue, we stop, show you the problem, and discuss the solution and cost before moving forward. There are no hidden fees and no surprises.

Planning a remodel involves a lot of moving parts. Here are answers to common questions about our renovation process.
Yes. Any significant electrical, plumbing, or structural work requires a permit in North Carolina. We handle the application and inspection process to ensure your project is up to code and legal.
We can assist with layout planning and material selection. While we are not architects, we have enough experience to suggest functional layouts for kitchens and bathrooms that maximize your available space.
We pride ourselves on accurate pricing. Unless we find hidden damage behind a wall that could not be seen during the inspection, the price we quote is the price you pay. We do not lowball bids just to get the job.
For specialized trades like licensed electrical or plumbing work, we bring in trusted partners we have worked with for years. We manage them directly so you still have only one point of contact for the entire project.
For most kitchen and bathroom projects, yes. However, there will be noise and dust. We do our best to seal off the work area with plastic barriers to minimize the mess in the rest of your house.
A standard bathroom remodel typically takes two to three weeks depending on the complexity of the tile work and whether we are moving plumbing lines. We will give you a specific timeline before we start.
You will need to clear out all personal items from the room we are working in. For kitchen remodels, you should set up a temporary kitchen area with a microwave and fridge in another room since your stove and sink will be out of commission.
Yes. We sweep up debris and organize our tools at the end of every workday. We know you are living there and we want to keep the disruption to a minimum.
